In the Indian context, road user charging mechanisms—such as congestion pricing and free-flow tolling—are increasingly essential to manage traffic demand, reduce congestion, improve logistics efficiency, and ensure sustainable infrastructure financing. Thoughtfully designed RUC frameworks can support equitable mobility, promote efficient road usage, and enable data-driven transport planning.
